PURPOSE: To make a machine compact by discriminating the size of a document by a document width detecting means provided in the width direction of the document and a document length detecting means for detecting the document length by the passing time of the document, and forming the shortest circulating path corresponding to the discriminated size.
CONSTITUTION: A stopper 62 is released by a print signal, and a document P is fed into lower carrier path 52. When the tip of the document P is detected by a sensor 73, the document width is detected by a document width detecting means 70 provided with plural document existence detecting sensors disposed vertically in the document advancing direction, and then the passing time of the tip and rear end of the document P is detected by a document length detecting means 71. These detected results are inputted into a control part, and the size and conveyed direction of the document P in conveyance are discriminated. In the case of A 3 size and lateral feeding, for instance, a finger 43 is energized to protrude into an upper carrier path 61 according to the discriminated results so as to form the shortest carrier path for feeding the A 3 size document laterally. When exposure for the last copy is terminated, the finger 43 recedes, and the document is discharged along the upper carrier path 61.
