Improvements in Apparatus for Bending Metal Pipe.

Abstract

1323. Hyde, A. S. Jan. 23. Blowpipe burners; burners, applications of.- A pipe c to be bent is locally heated by the annular burner d pivoted at g. The distance of the burner from the pivot g and the height of such pivot are adjustable. Gas under pressure is led through pipes e to the outer chamber m and escapes through annular slits t, air being supplied through pipes s, the inner annular chamber n, and the middle slit t. When the metal softens, a weight 2 or other means bends the pipe away from the rod k projecting from the burner and allows the springs to move the burner to the adjacent part of the pipe, the bent part being cooled by water which escapes through the holes y from the water chambers u, v.
